FAQs

How much does personal training cost at Lift Silverlake?

Personal training at Lift Silverlake costs $50 per session. It is a flat rate. Your $50 does not buy a class, because there are no classes at Lift. You train face to face with the strength trainers. The gym's position is that you cannot make meaningful progress if you cannot afford to train often enough, so the price lets you train when you want to.

Is there a membership or a contract?

There is no membership contract at Lift Silverlake. Sessions are paid one at a time at a flat $50. Skip a week for travel and you pay nothing. Show up four times in a week and it is the same flat rate per session. There are no upsells, no supplement push, and no surprise charges.

What does the $50 session include?

The $50 session includes 30 minutes with a coach, a custom plan for your goals, form correction on every set, and all gym equipment. You train in your own dedicated station and never share equipment. The first workout is free. Nothing else is added at signup or at the end of the month.

Why is $50 lower than most Los Angeles personal training?

Lift Silverlake set the $50 rate deliberately. When the gym opened 17 years ago in an old print shop, the average cost of personal training was $130 per session, and cost was the biggest hurdle to making strength training accessible. It took a couple of years to work out. The stated aim is letting people train when they want to instead of when they can afford to.

Do you offer classes or group training?

Lift Silverlake offers no classes and no group training. Every session is face to face with a strength trainer. Never more than six people are in the gym at once. You always train in your own dedicated station. The gym is appointment only, so the floor stays quiet and the equipment stays free.

How often do I need to train to make progress?

How often you train depends entirely on your goals. To maintain your current shape, once a week is plenty. To make improvements, you may need more. Lift Silverlake uses a nutrition analogy: cut 200 calories a day and reach a five pound goal in three months, or cut 600 a day and reach it in one month. The more you do, the quicker you get there.
